BIO A native son of Bellevue, Wasington, Doug deBruyn has traveled a winding road to his ultimate destination as a Certified Mortgage Planning Specialist. After considering the path of a career musician, Doug switched course in college to aviation, beginning his professional career in the 1990s as a commercial pilot, ultimately ending up as a 737 First Officer for United Airlines. But, in early 2002 he found himself out of the cockpit and on the street with 20,000 other United employees as a result of 9/11. Because of this life change, he refinanced his home, and his positive consumer experience led him back to school to become a mortgage professional. Doug has devoted significant time to his training as a Certified Mortgage Planning Specialist so that he can best serve his clients. "A mortgage is not just a mortgage. It's a financial instrument that, with proper planning, can be woven into your overall financial plan. Just as a financial planner is your asset manager, a mortgage planner is your debt manager." With his expertise, and his empathy of being on the consumer's side of the table, Doug's goal is to make certain that his clients' debts are managed in a way that will help them to weather any life change - even a job layoff - and utilize those dollars to create wealth for the future. Doug resides in Bellevue with his wife of nineteen years and two children; he continues to involve himself in his passions for flying, music, golf and travel (ask him about his two trips to Ethiopia) when and where he can.
